The Convoy for Cancer is expected to raise about $80,000 more than Convoy 2013

Convoy 2014 sets the benchmark for upcoming events.
The Cancer Support Group is expecting to raise $187,563 from Sunday’s Convoy for Cancer Families that ran from Beard to Gungahlin.
The 2013 Convoy for Cancer raised $107,000 which is a massive $80,000 improvement to last year’s total.
Throughout 2013 The Cancer Support Group has had a number of successful events that will be happening again in 2014.
Melissa Gardiner, CEO of The Cancer Support Group hopes the charity can improve on all fundraising efforts this year.
“In 2013 The Cancer Support Group ran a once off event called One Wheel Action Gala that raised $21,000, we hope to replicate a similar event involving a sit down dinner sometime in 2014”, said Mrs Gardiner.
Last year was still a success for the Cancer Support Group with the 2013 Hawaiian Ball bringing in $55,222.44 for the charity.
Hawaiian Ball is the second largest fundraiser after the Convoy for The Cancer Support Group.
Think Pink Quiz night was also a success raising $13,427.00 from donations and silent and live auctions.
The Cancer Support Group ran a raffle and auction at a Harness Racing meet during the year which raised $12,179.00.
